About the Artist
Wonderings & Wanderings
Jen's art is a contemplation of mystery, eternity and transcendence - the world of deeper things. She is drawn to nature and stillness, she sees and seeks beauty in the simple and the epic. She is always looking for the other, that which we feel but cannot see, and incarnating it as art.
In the last eight years Jen and her husband Fran have lived in New Zealand, Austin TX and the UK with many stop-offs along the way. Wherever her feet fall Jen seeks nature and the heritage and mystery of the place she's in, whether it's snow capped mountains, rocky deserts or windswept beaches. The wilderness draws Jen and speaks to her of life, truth and beauty. She seeks the ethereal, the incorporeal, the immaterial.
Jen has a deep spiritual connection with colour and spends time studying it's history, symbolism, dynamics and interactions. In all her art she seeks resonance of colour whether a mellowness of neutrals or thrum of intensity.
Though Jen has no formal training she has always been pursuing art as her primary purpose. Jen spends time in self-led study as well as taking courses to widen her experience and skills. As well as the more traditional mediums of acrylic and oil, Jen works with free machine embroidery, felt making and stained glass and is currently moving into sculptural textiles.
